Request Account & Data Deletion

Last updated: June 20, 2026

You can request that your Life Journal account and the personal data linked to it be deleted. This page explains how to submit a request, what we remove, and what may be kept for a limited time.

How to request deletion

  1. 1
Send an email from your registered address

Email [email protected] using the same email address linked to your Life Journal account.

  2. 2
Use the subject line: Account Deletion Request

This helps us route your request quickly.

  3. 3
    Include your account details

Provide your full name and the email address registered with Life Journal. If you use the mobile app, mention that in your message.

  4. 4
    We verify your identity

We may reply with a confirmation step to make sure the request is coming from the account owner.

  5. 5
    Deletion is completed after confirmation

Once verified, we delete your account and associated personal data within 30 days. We will email you when deletion is complete.

Data that is deleted

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove personal data tied to your account, including:

  • Account credentials and profile information (name, email, phone number)
  • Journal entries and AI-generated analyses linked to your account
  • Goals, memories, habits, todos, scratch pad notes, and notifications
  • Food, money, and physical activity records you stored in the app
  • Community posts, comments, and likes associated with your account
  • Active sessions, trusted devices, and login verification records
  • Feedback and support messages you submitted through the app

Data that may be kept

Some data may be retained after account deletion for limited purposes:

  • Security and server logs — IP addresses, timestamps, and technical logs needed to investigate abuse or service issues. These are kept for up to 90 days, then automatically removed.
  • Backup copies — Encrypted database backups may retain deleted data for up to 30 days before those backups expire and are overwritten.
  • Legal or compliance records — If we are required to retain specific information by law, we keep only what is legally necessary and for no longer than required.
  • Aggregated analytics — Non-identifiable, aggregated statistics that can no longer be linked back to you may be retained to understand overall product usage.

Additional retention periods

  • Account deletion requests are acknowledged within 7 business days.
  • Verified deletions are completed within 30 days of confirmation.
  • Backup and log retention follow the periods listed above and are not used to restore your account.
